Immigration and Multiculturalism

Both at home and abroad, Canada is thought of as an inclusive nation, a place where all people, regardless of culture, language, religion, sexual orientation or identity are welcomed and treated with equality and respect. Canada's brilliance is on display through our rich multicultural tapestry. In Canada diversity is not just accepted—it is celebrated.

I strongly believe that our immigration system is about nation-building. To build our nation our immigration policies need to facilitate equitable pathways to permanence to different immigrant classes that will bring a balance to reflect a full range of social and economic classes. It is time for Canada to fully embrace the principle that if you are good enough to work, you are good enough to stay.
