Householder Spring 2025

Dear Friends,

The situation in the United States is deeply alarming. Trump is attacking Canada’s sovereignty and Canadians need to stand strong and unified in response to the likes of Trump. While his unjustified trade war will have devastating consequences for Canadian workers, industries, and families already struggling with the cost of living, it will also hurt American families.

The Liberals has prorogued the House of Commons. Given the significant implications of this trade war, it is critical that parliamentarians come together and work across party lines in the best interest of our country. That’s why the NDP is pushing for an emergency session of parliament so that we can send a unified message to Trump.

Everything should be on the table. Build Canadian. Buy Canadian. Invest, expand and grow Canada’s infrastructure and manufacturing capacity. Diversify our economy. Impose dollar for dollar retaliatory tariffs. Send a message to Elon Musk with a 100% tariff on Tesla. Restrict access to Canadian natural resources. Ban American companies from all federal government procurement contracts and projects. Expand and enhance made in Canada product rebates. Reform EI and put in place a workers benefits package.

This unjustified tariff war goes far beyond partisan lines and this is the time to find common ground and fight like hell to protect Canadian businesses, jobs and affordability.

Let’s show Trump that we are strong and united.

Dear Friends,

In the face of unprecedented threats from US President Donald Trump, Canadians have united with strength and patriotism.

I think this reflects a deep pride in what we have created in Canada: a unique multicultural mosaic where we celebrate differences while uniting as Canadians; where we take care of each other, whether through public healthcare when we are sick or old age security when we can no longer work.

Yet, certain politicians in our country claim “everything’s broken”. I believe they are seriously misguided.

While we have many challenges to face and work to do, we live in a nation that has much to be admired and is most worthy of being defended.

From delivering dental care and free prescription coverage for diabetes and contraception medicines to millions of people, to a national school nutrition program, to paid sick days for workers, we’ve shown what we can accomplish when we work together.

Please contact me anytime to share your ideas on how we can continue to build a Canada that works better for everyone.

If you are eligible for the CDCP, but have run into issues with your application, please contact my office for assistance.

The phased roll out will continue as follows:

Eligibility is extended to adults with a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate and children under the age of 18 as of June 27, 2024.
