Town Hall Video: Jenny and Don’s town hall meeting on inflation, jobs and the economy

MP Jenny Kwan and Don Davies organized this town hall meeting with special guest economist Jim Stanford for a wide-ranging discussion about the current economic situation and what the federal government can do to address it.

About Jim: Jim Stanford is Economist and Director of the Centre for Future Work. Jim received his Ph.D. in Economics from the New School for Social Research in New York. He also holds an M.Phil. In Economics from Cambridge University, and a B.A. (Hons.) in Economics from the University of Calgary. Jim is one of Canada’s best-known economists. He served for over 20 years as Economist and Director of Policy with Unifor, Canada’s largest private-sector trade union. Jim is quoted frequently in the print and broadcast media, and contributes regular commentaries to the Toronto Star, Global National news, and CKNW Radio.

Speaking in the House of Commons on Monday, NDP MP Jenny Kwan described Gaza as “the most dangerous place for children in the world” and called for special immigration measures so that Palestinian families in Canada could be reunited with their loved ones. Minister of Foreign Affairs Melanie Joly responded by saying that “too many” children and women have lost their lives, adding that 130 Canadians were able to cross the Rafah border on Sunday night.
