Powell Street Festival is back!
Powell Street Festival is back! The annual Japanese Canadian street festival at Oppenheimer Park is one of my favourite festivals that reflects the beautiful culture and vibrant community spirit of Japanese Canadians. Don’t miss this massive 2 days (July 30 and 31) festival with live performances, a children’s tent, exquisite merchandises, delicious food and tons of fun.

I was delighted to meet with a group 9 talented Afghan women engineering students’ who won a full scholarship to do their post grad students at UBC. Two high school students also received a full scholarship to study in Vancouver. Getting their study permit approved was no easy task as IRCC often reject applications citing their standard reasons for rejections. Special thanks to Friba Rezayee for her relentless effort and dedication to help empower young Afghan women. They are an inspiration to us all. Welcome to Canada and thank you for contributing to Canada’s multicultural, social and exconomic fabric.
