On February 5, 2019, I was so happy to rise in the House to share a statement on the lunar new year:
I have risen twice in Question Period in the last two weeks to demand answers regarding the newest failure of the Liberal government on the Parents/Grandparents Sponsorship program, on behalf of constituents and in my capacity as Critic.
On January 28, 2019 I had the privilege of being the 1st NDP MP to debate in the new interim House of Commons in West Block while Centre Block undergoes extensive renovations.
The debate was on Motion M-207: Dutch Heritage Day:
On February 5, 2019 Jenny followed up on my questions to the government regarding the Minister of Canadian Heritage suggesting that Systemic Racism did not exist in Canada. Given it is Black History Month, Jenny had hoped the Minister would take the opportunity to apologize for his comments and lay out his pathway moving forward regarding Canada's Anti-Racism Action Plan. On January 31, 2019, I rose to speak to an Opposition Motion, moved by NDP MP Sheri Benson (Saskatoon West), calling on the government to create 500,000 units of quality, affordable housing within ten years, and to commit in Budget 2019 to completing 250,000 of those units within five years:
On January 28, 2019 I had the privilege of being the 1st NDP MP to debate in the new interim House of Commons in West Block while Centre Block undergoes extensive renovations. The debate was on Motion M-207: Dutch Heritage Day:
On December 11, 2018, I rose in the House to speak about the need for a national child care program for all:
On December 10, 2018, the House held what is called a "take-note" debate on the topic of the opioid crisis in Canada. I rose several times throughout the night, to say the following:
During the December 11, 2018 adjournment proceedings, Jenny rose to speak on the need for a national child care program for all, because it's an investment that would ensure consistent access to affordable, quality child care all across the country, and would also stand to boost our economy by raising women's workforce participation:
On December 10, 2018, the House held what is called a "take-note" debate on the topic of the opioid crisis in Canada. This is perhaps one of the most important debates we can have in the House, from my perspective, as the member for Vancouver East:
On December 10, 2018, I tabled four petitions:
On November 21, 2018, I asked the following during Question Period:
